Who is Dr. Joy Brauer?

I grew up on a lake in Missouri. There was a lot of time spent outdoors swimming in the lake and exploring the woods nearby.

My father was a plastic surgeon and he often took me with him on emergency calls to reconstruct a child’s face that was severely traumatized from a dog bite or to repair the cheek of a young man that had a deep laceration from the sharp edge of a broken beer bottle which he had received during a bar fight. The care and attention he gave to the smallest details is what I remember most about those experiences. He took the time to expertly align of the margins of the lacerations so the scar would be a faint line rather than something out of a horror movie. 

To this day, I know that artistic ability is a genetic part of me along with something that I work on daily to develop. I study my craft, cosmetic dentistry, on a daily basis because I have the desire to be one of the bests in my field. My passion for creating beautiful smiles is sewn in my heart. I believe it is something I was born to do and also something that I do in order to remain close to my father that passed away when I was 17 years of age.

This isn’t just a job for me. It is my passion.

I met my husband 21 years ago in dental school. We have been married and have worked together for the last 17 years. People often ask me all the time “Isn’t it hard to work with your husband?”. I tell them I actually like working with my best friend. We have 3 amazing, funny, beautiful girls (ages 9, 12 and 15). They are involved in every activity imaginable so I guess that makes me a part-time chauffeur. I have one crazy Boston Terrier that I call “Psycho” even though his name is Ace. I have a couple of close girlfriends that I like to hike with, frequent local spas and practice yoga with. I also love Orange Theory Fitness and Peeps. Basically, that is my life in a nutshell.

Together, we run our dental practice from Gilbert, Arizona. We strive to give our patients the highest level of exceptional dentistry in the area. It’s important that we make sure you are educated on the dental process and procedures we offer and that you know your comfort is our #1 priority.
